I hope folks here know that the tax rebate check is an advance on your 2008 tax return. It really doesnt matter if we get 600/900/1200 because when we file return in 2008, IRS will deduct the money from your refund. No free lunch!

I am planning for a UK visa and travel via London.
UK Visa + Airfare is cheaper than Lufthansa fare alone, same travel duration.
Any comments / Suggestions?
IF its cheap and you really like the Airlines then go for it. I am not sure about the UK visa, if you can get it thru mail then thats great. Also some airlines like Air India you will be sitting inside the flight during transit (i am not a big fan of sitting inside an aircraft for 16+hrs), in that case I guess you don't need an ATV, not sure thou.

May be because they are busy aproving GC's since July, there is a delay in AP aprovals for people who files after July.
I think after September end, there will be flood of aprovals.
So November travel plan guys, dont worry you should get it in september-october for sure.

I don't understand why people are waiting for approval from IV? We are doing nothing illegal if that is what you are afraid of! Or are you afraid that the USCIS will come after you because you sent them Flowers???
If you think sending flowers are a good idea then send them PLEASE! Currently people have ordered flowers with a delivery date of July 10th. It will be great if USCIS gets them all on the same day!
Don't wait for approval from IV! You are all individuals you can make the decision for yourselves!

How come there are people with PD 2008 able to file AOS. Eb3 row and India both didnot cross 2007 so there is no scope of cross chargebility.

I am on Advance Parole . Entered at Newark airport last week. first io checked all passport, AP for my wife and I, then asked me how long i was there outside country. i said three weeks. then took me to another room and gave my file to another IO . Another io stamped on my AP, passport and let us go. it went pretty smooth except bit long wait around 45 mins in the room. but it is worth it as i don't have to go thru hassle of getting visa stamped in India.

Staying here or going back depends on an individual's priorities. If my priority is to lead a life of luxury then I should stay. One thing nobody can deny is that there are more material comforts in the US for now. (will this change in 10 yrs no one knows). But on the other hand if I cant spend festivals without family and I'm ready to take a hit on some luxuries then I should go back.
You have to weigh the options and see what suits you.
The outcome of the debate depends on what you want out of life.

Sincere efforts have been made by IV core team .. I would not be worried of results every day.

On November 19, 2009, Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Charles Grassley (R-IA) introduced S. 2804, the Employ America Act. Under this legislation, any company seeking an H1-B visa, or any other type of temporary work visa that is needed to hire a foreign worker, would first be required to certify that it has not, and will not, lay off a large number of employees.
I share the concern of Senators Sanders and Grassley that some Americans are competing for jobs with workers from overseas. With our national unemployment rate continuing to hover near 10%, we need to do more to keep jobs in the United States.
I believe the best strategy is to ensure American workers are as competitive as possible. In the areas of our economy where voids of talent and skills exist, we need to invest the resources necessary to fill those gaps to ensure that American workers are as competitive as possible.
American workers are the finest in the world. I believe that when given a level playing field they can compete anywhere. Our government must minimize laws and regulations that lower worker productivity and add to the cost of labor.
However, temporary work visas play an important role in ensuring that U.S. companies have the workers they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. We must also be careful not to take action that could hurt our ability to attract jobs from overseas. Increased foreign investment means more factories, more research and development, and more jobs being in-sourced to the United States by companies based abroad.
Since 2002, in-sourcing companies have increased their employment in Texas by 19%, according to the Organization for International Investment. U.S. subsidiaries of foreign companies support 418,500 jobs for Texans. This ranks Texas third in the nation in terms of the total number of in-sourced jobs.

Ignorant question: What is the difference?
A case no with "T" means the case is only in the system because of a status enquiry - a few fields were hastily filled out so a Temporary case number can be assigned and the screen shot transmitted to the lawyer/employer.
A "D" means a legitimate entry has been made. I am wondering how many cases with PDs in late 2004 have real case numbers starting with a "D".

Pls do not worry. You can get H1 premium processing done with your present company. If you have any time left from your 6 year H1 B period (vacations to India etc) you will getting H1 for that period. If you appeal your 1-140 or i-485 revocation you will get 1 year extension based on the fact that your labor is more than 365 days old. Sometime they approve the H1 petition but do not approve the change of status (COS) from EAD to H1. Then you can go to Canada with all ur W2's stacked in your arm and no visa officer would deny your H1 stamping. Best of Luck :)

Become a donor and get the facts...I became one too...what they have is crystal clear response from USCIS that stops the buck! I think the outreach and recognition IV has into USCIS is clearly demonstrated by this response and speaks for itself on the efforts put in by IV. Donating money is not in most of our blood..but think of it like a service that you are purchasing...and its worth it so far for me!

IV has a lot of activity going on and it needs continuous flow of funds. One time contributions help but they just serve that one time. Our struggle is going to take a lot longer and once the momentum has gained, it gets very tough to slow down because of the lack of funds.
Hence, it has been decided to give Donor access based on your monthly contributions. If you made a contribution in July, then inform the admins. They will then grant you Donor access for 1 month. Donor access has to be given manually. Hence, please be patient!
Please understand that this IV Donor based model has been designed not to deny information to active members but to make sure IV has enough funds when a lot of action is going on in the background.
