Yes, it is disheartening to see the poor response by the thousands of IV members to this critical issue. If everyone wants to participate in only the issues that affect them directly today and do not want to even bother about closely related issues, I foresee no solution to any of our issues in the near future...

You make several wild sweeping assumptions here. One, the fact that we came here looking for opportunity so many years ago means that the "opportunity" will be available for a lifetime. That is blatantly false - It is like saying everyone loves to stay in a 5 star hotel; therefore everyone wants to stay FOREVER in a 5 star hotel.
Second, you must be totally ignorant of current affairs to say that returning to India is an exception, not a rule. The list of Indian american citizens who returned to India is a virtual who's who list - almost every week I read a story about some big shot Indian american returning to India to settle down there, including VCs like Vani Kola, pharmaceutical R&D big names etc. And these are in reputed publications like WSJ, NYT etc, not some mom and pop desi magazine. Why did they return ? Certainly not because of immigration reasons. I doubt for sentimental reasons either - they returned for OPPORTUNITY. Yes, the very same opportunity for which they left the mother country. Like they say, the only thing constant in this world is change - thats even more true in this globalized world. It helps to keep an open mind and be on the lookout for opportunities everywhere.
Returning or not is a personal decision based on personal circumstances and opportunity - we don't have to make sweeping generalizations to justify our decision. Just state your reasons and leave it at that.

2. World economy is dependent on US economy and it will be the case for next 100 years. So you are better off here.

Just a thought. So if the company would itself withdraw 140 after 180 days and after a person invoked AC21, then USCIS wouldn't look into I-140 (what's the reason revoking withdrawn I-140?). Wouldn't that work? If this works isn't it better for us to ask our previous employers to withdraw the damn thing and reduce our risks?
Second. Can't lawyers play that card for dimpi's case? Even if 140 is revoked, 180 days passed, and the person used AC21 and it wasn't fraud, can't I-485 still be approved?

Probably a good lawyer should consider this too. But again there is no final rule making for AC21. No company want a fight with USCIS and most of the lawyers would suggest against sticking it upto officers at USCIS, These IOs can retaliate against company anytime ...

after all that ensued....most likely they will not back out on their July 17th statement that they will honor Orig July VB.
Now talking to just one lady and asking her 12 times means nothing.....
Most of th eCSR do not have the knowledge or do not care and will given u random answers...if u call second time another CSR would give u s different explanation altogether...so unless we see appplications being rejected we have no grounds to believe USCIS is backing away from its Promise....and nether can we do anything about it untill we see mass rejections for application filed on or before Aug 17th

I am now a part time Masters student in Johns Hopkins. I am almost midway through my masters. I got my masters admission based on US equivalent Bachelors degree and this proves that my engineering degree is equivalent to US Bachelors. Did you guys think submitting my Masters admission letter in addition to the evaluation and university letter helps or is it too much info and the officer gets more confused?
Looking forward for any suggestions or if you guys know anyone who submitted US Masters admission letter before and got their case approved.

Could you please post one or two talking points specifically for this bill so that members do not confuse it with the other bills out there.
Yes a few important talking points would be useful. My understanding is most of the time calls are taken by someone to note the support of the specific bill number, so calling with bill number and some generic talk may be OK but a targeted talk to point out one or two points by all of us may have more impact.
BTW...I called Delahunt's office. First mentioned HR5882 and used a few generic talking points to request the congressman's support.

Last I heard, having TB was a fairly serious communicable disease. Arguably one of the most serious common diseases transmitted through casual contact.
If you were positive on the skin test and xray, and refused treatment, you wouldn't get the form and therefore, wouldn't get a greencard.

Yes, jaguar you are an old friend. :) And if you say that things have finally fallen in place, I am inclined to believe it. I am going through a lot of stress, and so many times have we heard that it will be over soon that the stress has been increasing.
I hear ya man... such a long time in this limbo would cause severe stress to anybody.. I am just starting to believe that things are finally falling in place, and we should see something positive in the next session...

Applied for my husbands AP renewal by mail on Jan 26th at Nebraska center.What are chances of him getting his AP by first week of march?
The checks haven't been cashed yet.Is there anything we can do to expedite the process at all?

I was thinking as to why is there such lack of participation in IV campaigns.
One reason could be that majority of people need to be motivated individually to participate.
Can state chapters individually work on members in their groups? Chapters leaders can call for some volunteers within their state who are willing to contact other members personally to encourage them to participate.
I have recently moved to detroit area from Illinois and will be joining Michigan chapter.

First you will have to understand IV is run by volunteers who has a full time job and family to take care. More most of the IV core people are alreay GC holders and no one is getting paid for their time and effort. The only goal is to fix the back log.
We can not make everything public as there are so many vested interest and will harm our efforts. We do not have enough support, resource to declare a open war like undocumented people. So we will have to keep thing under wraps. If you want to tak part, there are various groups working on various fix. Join one those group, spend time and you will understand and appreciate what the volunteers are doing.

Lots of negative things going on for immigrants with government agencies. I felt the forums were going to start heating up with issues.
I thnk overall people have started to give up on USA. USA does not represent a "GOOD LIFE" anymore..and the reason is for everyone to see. Even with a GC the way things go you might lose your job and God Forbid .. but if you are hit by a serious illness and you have mortgages to pay you can end up homeless..not much fun eh?

45 day letter was sent by DOL on 3/7/06.
Lawyer received it on 3/14/06.
Lawyer sent the notice to my HR on 4/10/06 (after sitting on it for almost a month....am VERY upset with the lawyer...but, that is another story...HR is following up with the Lawyer on their delay).
HR responded to the Lawyer on 4/10/06.
HR is also following up with the lawyer to ensure it gets sent out ASAP as the deadline is 4/21/06
Question: How do they determine that the response has been received in a timely manner? Is it based on mail receipt, or them actually entering the data to continue with the case before 45 days are up?

I just called USCIS to check on my case status, the Cust rep over there told me as below.
Details of my case-

Can't we request popular immigration websites like www.murthy.com, www.rajeevkhanna.com to post few lines about IV. I am sure there lot more people checking these sites than IV.
