On line MBAs don't have much value, they still cost a lot.
Why not do a part time or full time that has some value.
I know of a friend who did from Univ of Phoenix, but not much in return.

Keeping our differences on Alexander asides :), thanks for doing the right thing. I greatly appreciate you doing it though you don't live in Michigan.
I totally agree with you on this hypocrite Lou Dobbs and also admire your determination and sticking to your views. I too belive that we can make a change if we are determined. I have written my views to the radio station eventhough I don't listen to that channel as I live somewhere far. I hate to side track the issue but I couldn't control my self to accept that Alexander was great( that apprears in your posts) I stongly belive that he was not great but was a coward (I came to conclusion after reviewing the history)

check the latest release on July 17.pdf. I am not sure how many applications are rejected on july 2nd ...If one did not recieve rejected package it means,they are going to honor the application as long as initial evidence is right.

There is a rumor going around now. One of my colleagues here claims that he got a call from his attorney that there is going to be a new bulletin for july, released either tomorrow or on Monday. Can someone talk to their attorney and confirm this?
I'm unable to reach my attorney now.
Rumors seem to be getting stronger by the hour. And all the info is coming from lawyers who are usually conservative in releasing such information.
Don't get your hopes up... just wait and watch. Never worry about anything that's not in your control! That's the way to living nirvana...

I am speaking in my personal capacity here. While I am all for freedom of expression and assembly, I don't think that rallies will in any way help our cause. We have to talk to people and participate in various forums to make them aware of our cause. Standing and protesting is not going to help us, because our voice will still be lost in the din...we need to speak where it matters and be heard where it matters...

Obviously this is not possible at this stage. How about everyone at least pinning something similar that is printed on a paper on their shirts? Similar to how runners do (http://z.about.com/d/studenttravel/1/0/s/H/ujena-marathon-solo-2.jpg)
It will help the organizers and any media persons in identifying the rally participants easily.

This might come as a surprise to some of you, but someone needs to say it out loud. GET A LIFE FOLKS!!!! there is more to life then EB, GC and all. it seem all we desi's can think of is how to get a green card so we can live here with peace and never have to worry bout getting laid off or anything.
Few points:
1) having gc is a privilege not a right.
2) US has every right to choose whom they want to have in their country.
3) If getting PR or citizenship of a western country is the goal there are many countries which have a fair point based system.
4) Considering the number of fraud's committed by Indian body shoppers and people who use them, i am not surprised USCIS is extra careful when it comes to Indian applications. Anyone who got his wife with no exp with software dev an h1b visa from some cheat in Jersey knows what i am talking bout . My freind got his wife an H1 after showing she knew software testing even though her major was fine arts and all she was good at was web surfing :)
5) have a back up. i came here in 2001 as student and have seen it all. I am on h1b since 2004. i knew we have too many people whose sole aim in life is a American GC. to avoid becoming one of those who check processing dates first thing in morning, i applied for Canadian PR, got it in 8 months and i am not even gonna bother applying for labor, i-140 and all those precious life controlling documents.
Wake up friends, you have options. Don't let your life depend on you application status.

After analyzing this bill, I found the following:
1. This bill will recapture all those unused employment based visas (gcs) from 1997 till 2008 and it will add those recaptured visas to this year's employment based quota.
2. After the passage of this bill, any unused visas will rollover to the next year. So, no more wastage of visas as we go forward.
3. Per country limit will be increased from 7% to 10%, so more folks from over subscribed countries would be able to come under the normal yearly quota.
4. We will be able to avail the benefits of the recapture after 60 days of the passage of the bill. That means, if they are able to recapture 220,000 (approx) employment based visas, the employment based category will be able to use all those after 60 days of the passage of this bill. USCIS is pre-adjudicating all I485s pending and if this bill gets passed in say for eg by October 30, almost all (80%) in this community (who filed 485) would be able get their GCs in Jan and Feb of 2010.
What makes this bill much more interesting is:
1. This is not a bill targetting the issues of Employment based category - So there won't be a huge backlash against this in the name of the economy and recession. The provisions for the employment category are just one item in this bill.
2. Family based immigration reform has a wider range of support from all kinds of groups unlike Employment based immigration reform. Just search for this bill "Reuniting Families Act" in google news and you can identify all those organizations supporting this bill (they all have a news release).

Well Rep Lofgren is one of the two lawmakers in the House who have background in immig. issues (she was an immig. attorney).
If she doesn't have an obligation to solve immig. issue who else will have? It is her expertise and she want to solve the problem. Give her a chance, by supporting her effort on the 3 bills.
WHY is she backing the bill..what is her motivation? or did she just decide to do a gandhi on us all?

In any system if you club large group of applicants based on a dichotomy, and say you will get lesser share than the rest, isn't that how you describe preferential treatment ? Is there any other way to describe the current country-quota system?

Continuing on your example. Let me give another example of why this quota system is ridiculuous. Let's consider a Srilankan Tamil and an Indian Tamil. What would be so different between the two, in terms of social contribution to the US, that the 'diversity' rule makes an actual difference? Again what is the great benefit achieved by making it easier for one group to get a GC over the other? You can even think of other examples too.
I dont' want to start off a culture war here by making controversial statements, but try to understand the core of what I'm trying to say. That is, there is no perceivable difference between you and I, at least in terms of employability, that this diversity concept can make a meaningful benefit out of.
In fact it probably makes much more economical sense to have quotas based on the subject's political or scientific inclination rather than national origin! In today's connected world, nationality has no meaning.
