..." My point is Don't crib if EB3 is retrogressed...use the system and become EB2, port your priority date, which is ofcourse dependent upon finding an EB2 job
Really???? Are you sure that this is what you meant in your original post?

This is what you wrote in the first post,
"Now, compare this to a person working an EB3-job for the last 8 years. Not only does this person do a real job that hopefully provides a respectable income but this person also has the option of moving to EB2 after 5 years of experience. So, at the end of the day in 2008; this person comes out ahead of me in terms of money, in terms of priority date (if ported) and most likely in terms of GC"
"You have all the opportunities that were/are available to a person who sweated it out in the university system here to gain more qualifications and get an EB2 job. You CHOSE not to."
Are you insane or what? Why can't you understand that many EB3 also have US education. There are thousands who had M.S degree or more than 5 years of experience but didn't apply in EB2.

    pmb76,

I agree with you we are at least not turning blind eye on this kinda false propagandas.
Fight for truth is a difficult thing but when fought with full enthu you will see the results(what ever they might be something positive).

I don't know what this petition is going to do. Atleast it will convey to CNN top brass that there are people out there who won't tolerate such lies. Maybe it won't do anything now but we must continue our efforts and oppose such false propagation of information whenever we can.

We may be angry, but let us not use bad word for him. He is doing his job and earning his bread and butter! I have heard him using very strong language against government and administration - I don't think he is against anything but he has to do certain things to maintain the popularity of his show among middle class Americans (after all it is all business!).

So I am assuming we have a way to track who they are. Why don't we tag them - on the colored button on the top right, saying something like "xxx doesnot want to contribute but has posted 239 messages" and let people decide whether to read or ignore his message.

With total contributions < 20% (may be lower) then Payton Boggs fees (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=50347&postcount=4) and repeated requests to focus on financial contributions, $0 contributing members continue (with utter dis-regard to financial contributions) to post in IV forums.

There is a member with $0 contributions but 239 posts (often non-english) containing utter nonsense. My dog can post 100 posts and become a senior member. However, my dog will be less shameless so as to avoid misusing someone's scarse resources.

We have 97% (of 9,000) members who can not pay $20. This is when Aman has spent 30-40K and core members have spent in K's.

The Skilled tag of IV members is only for Labor Certification. Shame on all financially non-contributing members and non-members who continue to hang here.

How dare you find IV only when you have a question?
How dare you get depressed and frustated on IV forums?
How dare you continue discussing unrelated issues when we don't have finances for Patton Boggs?

Congress is putting so much of restrictions on H1B and reducing Green Card for employment based.

I think this is the time to negotiate with Businesses and try to release a joint statement that

"Business will transfer the jobs to India/China along with people who are currently on H1B and struck in Green Card backlog. This may force business to close some divisions in the US and eventually US citizens will loose job."

    Friends,

I'm starting a new thread where I'll post research and stats that lend more credibility and/or support skilled, legal immigration. This should also be added to our presentation material for lawmakers!

    Thanks!

    -----------

Starting off, here is a recent study by the influential Kauffman Foundation which clearly backs the rationale for expanding skilled, legal immigration...

    http://www.kauffman.org/news.cfm?itemID=678
New Kauffman Foundation Study Identifies Key Factors Driving Offshoring of Corporate R&D

    Contacts:
Wendy Guillies, Kauffman Foundation, 816-932-1046, wguillies@kauffman.org
Tom Phillips, Communication Partners, 212-935-4655, comptwp@aol.com

KANSAS CITY, MO, February 16, 2006 - Contrary to popular belief, it is intellectual capital and university collaboration, not just lower costs, that primarily attract companies to locate R&D activities in locations away from their home country, according to a new study sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The study of more than 200 multinational companies across 15 industries, mostly headquartered in the United States and Western Europe, finds that emerging countries such as China and India will continue to be major beneficiaries of R&D expansion over the next three years as companies seek new market opportunities, access to top scientists and engineers, and collaborative research relationships with leading universities.

The study was released at a meeting of the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR) of the National Academies. It was conducted by Marie Thursby, Ph.D., Professor of Strategic Management, Georgia Tech College of Management, and Jerry Thursby, Chair of the Department of Economics, Emory University, with sponsorship by the Kauffman Foundation.

Designed to identify and rank the importance of different factors feeding into the corporate decision-making process as to where to locate R&D facilities, the study also tracked R&D work coming into the United States from abroad, as well as R&D work going in the reverse direction; addressed favored countries for locating R&D work and why; and outlined trends industry expects for R&D expansion in the future.

Among the top factors going into new R&D siting decisions in both developed and emerging countries are market growth potential, quality of R&D talent, collaboration with universities and IP protection. How these factors influence the decision, however, depend on whether the site is in a developed or emerging country. In neither emerging nor developed countries was cost consideration the most important factor, which runs contrary to what has been reported by the media (according to an analysis of media coverage over the past few years in The Wall Street Journal and New York Times on multinational R&D locations).

Among the study's more surprising findings, according to the researchers, was the role university collaboration plays in the decision-making process for locating R&D facilities. In fact, collaboration with universities was particularly prevalent as a factor for expanding to emerging countries, even though these countries provide lesser degrees of IP protection.

"The study underscores the critical role universities play in a country's national innovation system, not just in the training of new scientists and access to the best talent, but in the ease of developing and licensing technology," said Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation.

More than half of the corporate respondents who identify the United States as their home country report that they have either recently expanded or planned to locate R&D facilities in China and India vs. other developed countries. Of 63 Western European companies responding, 13 plan on expanding or locating new R&D facilities to the United States. The issue of collaborative research between universities and corporations has been a growing concern within the United States, with some observers saying legal wrangling over intellectual property rights is not only slowing the pace of innovation but also prompting companies to seek university research partners in other countries.

The study indicates, however, that while the trend toward R&D offshoring to Asia will continue despite concerns over IP protection, companies are keeping their most cutting-edge research in developed countries where IP protection is the strongest. According to the study, only 22 percent of the R&D effort in emerging countries is for new science.

"The United States would seem to have a comparative advantage in maintaining its innovative leadership through the high caliber of its scientists and its strong protection of IP," said Lesa Mitchell, vice president of Advancing Innovation at the Kauffman Foundation. "Industry and universities must be alert to removing obstacles to joint research, or emerging countries will overtake us in innovation breakthroughs, and the burst of discovery that has been driving our economy for the past half-century will be over."

Another public policy implication of the findings, say the researches, is that the United States must focus on highly skilled worker immigration.

"We are educating the best and the brightest, but make it impossible for them to stay in America and immigrate. We need major immigration reform that welcomes, instead of pushes out, highly skilled workers," said Dr. Marie Thursby.

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City is a private, nonpartisan foundation that works with partners to advance entrepreneurship in America and improve the education of children and youth. The Kauffman Foundation was established in the mid-1960s by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist Ewing Marion

Same old blah blah blah we cannot and should not keep reacting to such nonsense. A fraction of what he told is true but he is blowing it out of proportion. Lets not post such nonsense here which is the standard stump speech of anti immigration folks

The idea here is to start an honest debate and know about the views of the forum members. There is nothing wrong in starting a thread to discuss this issue. Forum members who have an opinion and do wish to participate are welcome to do so. I respect your opinion on this issue and you are welcome to put your valuable time to better use and responding/participating in other discussions on this forum.

shishya and spdy_mn, the point here is when did you get married. As long as your marriage date is before the approval date you are fine. In fact, I remember reading in murthy's website that even if you find out that your 485 has been approved right after you got married (all petitions will have an approval date), you are still eligible to file for your spouse's 485. I think INS has a 180 day window to consider the spouse's application. I guess you have to prove that you got married before the approval date of your 485. Search the murthy website about this posting from her. Good luck.

For all of you who have send me a pvt. message asking me how to reach IO @ TSC, here are the steps:

    1) Call Customer Service @ 1 800 375 5283
    2) Continue in english, hit 1
    3) To check the status, hit 2
    4) Know your receipt number, hit 1
    5) Enter Receipt number, and then for SRC, hit 1
    6) Confirm Receipt Number, hit 1
    7) You will now hear the status of your case. At this point, hit 3 to "Report a problem".

Here is the trick - now you will hear 4 options. I believe # 3 is "If your case is outside the processing time..." and # 4 is for "If you have filed several cases and have received a decision on....". You want to hit # 4 and you will be connected to an IO at TSC.

Just a word of caution: You will be talking to an Immigration Officer @ TSC so please be very polite. Some officers will tell you that they cannot give you any information, or you should be calling Customer Service number, simply say 'Thank You' and hang up. It might take days/weeks before you reach an IO who would be willing to help.

    Again, the sequence is:
    Call the customer service number.
Press 1, 2, 1, Enter Receipt Number, Hit 1 for SRC, Hit 1 to confirm RN, 3 to report a problem, 4 to connect to an officer @ TSC.

Also, you do not have to wait to hear the complete message. You can be connected to an IO in less than 30 seconds (trust me, you will get good at it). I had the print out of steps sitting in my car and I would go to my car every 2 hours and call TSC. Keep a log of when you called and who the officer was (if the officer tells you their name, note it down cuz next time you can simply hang up if the same officer is on the line).

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE TIME CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND DO NOT OPEN TOO MANY SRs.

Did anyone notice that GCTest's only interest was to start a fight between EB2 and EB3 folks.

See how he opened up a thread and threw a match to light the fire so that everyone starts fighting amongst themselves and he did not post again in his own thread .

United we stand and divided we fall. This is true since life started and will be true until the end of time.

I never have and never will like the idea of being asked to pay, I give what I can unasked. What of the people that by circumstance do currently not have these amounts of money to spare. I should not have to feel excluded nor should I have to explain my very personal reasons why to everyone.

Have you guys looked in the forums lately, people are getting "yelled" at and talked to rudely if they do not disclose how much exactly they have contributed. So we are only allowed to an opinion or help if we have money?

I will contribute when I have money to spare, however it seems I will have to leave this organization based on the comments that have been out there before I get to the point where I can afford to contribute. That goes for both time and money, some of us have responsibilities that we do not want to disclose.

*sigh* I might have just opened myself up to the ones that like to attack....go ahead...

    :) Do not worry.

I even completed the interview for my employment based 485 more than 19 months ago. I do not know what else they want ?
